Great HD projector! Epson PowerLite S3 LCD Projector

I bought this before HD was all the rage and did not realize that it had HD capability until a friend asked about it a few months ago. Turns out that the VGA connection on the back doubles as a component video connection. I know have HD cable from Comcast as well as a Playstation 2, Xbox and a Wii all connected to it with component cables and it looks fantastic.

I have it set up in my basement projecting on a white wall with an image size that is 120″ corner to corner. When you are close to the screen you can see the pixels, but sitting about 10 feet away it looks great.

Worth considering, especially if you’re on a budget. Optoma EP721 Projector

A couple months ago, I was getting frustrated with the I was being handed whenever I went to teach a class or do a presentation. I decided that it was time that I just bought my own. To help justify the purchase, I decided to use it “part-time” for “home theater” in my den. Now, anybody will tell you that there’s a big difference between a true home-theater quality projector and a business presentation unit, and they are quite correct. This unit can’t match the performance of a $2500 - $5000 .

Great Picture Terrible Service Sharp XR10X DLP Projector

I got this from a local warehouse store (Sam’s Club)for $899, and considering the great quality of the picture and the easy set-up, I could not have been happier with it. That is until after about 5 weeks when a pixel went bad, right in the middle of the screen. One of the things that really attracted me to this was its 3 years parts and labor warranty, plus I was able to extend that to 7 years parts and labor for only $79!! What a deal! How could I loose? Well I found out how when I called Sharp and asked how I could get the bad pixel fixed and was told that there must be 3 or more pixels out before they will honor the warranty. I explained that the pixel was very noticeable, being in the center of the screen, and very white, and always visible. It ruined the pleasure of watching the movie and was not acceptable. The said - tough. They would not fix it until 3 pixels went bad, end of discussion. So I have to wait for how many years for 2 more to go out before they will fix their product? (Actually that may not be too long if their projector’s quality is as bad as their customer service…) I would rather just return it and shop for another brand with a REAL warranty.

Complete update NEC HC1500 DLP Projector

After a week with my first HC1500, I was convinced that it was impossible for so many people to love this projector, if the picture looked as bad as it looked on mine. That’s why I decided to give it another chance and exchange it before I completely give up on it. I am really glad I did, because it turned out that it is indeed a great projector. Now I think it is only fair to completely re-write my review to reflect the performance of my new unit, since I do believe the first one was defective.

Great HD projector, InFocus ScreenPlay 5000 LCD Projector

I have had my Infocus SP5000 now since the end of December 2005, and so far am very pleased with this projector. When we moved into a

smaller house, our 55 inch HDTV projection tv was just to big a box for our smaller living room. The wife said it had to go. So I sold it and bought

this projector at Costco for around $1050. I don’t think Costco is selling this unit anymore, but it is still available from other internet sources.
